Being one of the pioneers in the privatisation of potable water treatment and supply in Malaysia since 1987, LGB Group via its water treatment division under the listed Taliworks Corporation Berhad, namely Sungai Harmoni Sdn. Bhd., (“Sungai Harmoni”) provides potable water to large parts of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
Sungai Harmoni is the Operation and Maintenance operator of the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant with a design operating capacity of 950 MLD (million litres per day). In 2019 Sungai Harmoni entered into a Bulk Water Supply Agreement (BWSA) with Pengurusan Air Selangor until 2036.
The Group had previously operated and maintained the entire water supply and distribution facilities in Pulau Langkawi, spearheaded by Taliworks Langkawi Sdn. Bhd. under a 25-year concession which had ended on 31 October 2020. All operations have since been handed over to Syarikat Air Darul Aman Sdn. Bhd, a corporatized body under the State Government of Kedah.
Going hand-in-hand with water treatment plant management and operation that has cemented its identity as an industry pioneer, the LGB Group is also involved in trading of water treatment chemicals and equipment as well as providing technical services to the water, waste and sewage treatment industries. LGB Group’s know-how is underpinned by its in-house research and development expertise as well as training division with accredited laboratories, thus enabling the contribution of holistic and sustainable solutions.
On the international front, LGB’s 30% owned Joint Venture company with Veolia Water in Singapore holds a concession to operate and maintain the 500 MLD Lingzhuang Water Treatment Plant in Tianjin China.
In addition to water treatment and supply, the Group has core competency in building water treatment and supply facilities such as the construction of river intakes, water treatment plants, installation of pipe networks, reservoirs and other facilities for Malaysian state governments. Completed projects include the Central Kedah Water Supply Scheme in Gurun, Padang Terap Water Supply Scheme, Kedah, Mengkuang Dam in Penang, Langat 2 Reservoir in Selangor and Ganchong Water Treatment Project in Pahang. In December 2021, the Group had successfully procured two (2) design and build packages with a total contract value of RM896 million under the Proposed Development of Sungai Rasau Water Treatment Plant and Water Supply Scheme (Phase 1), Selangor Darul Ehsan project.
